The Lozarithm Lens

The Woodland Garden (Wednesday 18th June 2025)

B., the landscape gardener who lives next door, has been clearing this area that lies in front of the conservatory window on the last couple of Sunday mornings. It was mostly ivy and other ground cover, with some daffodils and crocus bulbs that I hope have survived. Following the work of the tree surgeons (note the truncated goat willow) the area now attracts more light so I am now considering what can be planted there. An alpine rockery, perhaps.

As I took this on an ultra-wide full-frame lens I'm entering this for WideWednesday, with thanks to C1aire, though it doesn't fit the optional theme of 'Solstice'.

Much better in Large.

Muireann Bradley - Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright (2025)
The only item Muireann Bradley has released apart from her astounding album I Kept These Old Blues is this online version of Dylan's Don't Think Twice.
“I grew up listening to Bob Dylan, and while I love the stuff from when he turned electric, I really love the early acoustic records - The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan is my favourite, I just love the finger picking on that album.
Don’t Think Twice It’s Alrigh' has always been one of my favourite songs, not only does it have that killer finger picking and mouth organ, but it has this really cool natural chord progression and melancholy melody and lyrics," she continued. "I learned the song a couple of years ago and always had it in pretty good shape because I played it a lot at home. The first time I received an encore on stage I couldn’t think of what to play, then I thought I’ll play Don’t Think Twice, it went down really well and it’s been in my live set ever since.
"We recorded it live in the studio on an old tape machine with my Waterloo WL-14. I had a really bad head cold and a sore throat that day and could barely sing, but I actually really like how it turned out.” - Muireann Bradley, quoted by John Walshe, Hot Press.
