Garden delights
Another very hot day today, I believe it got to 28C. Not fun to walk the dog in this heat, and it's not safe either as the dogs in the UK are just not used to heat like this (so don't laugh at how pathetic we are, Australian dog owners!)
At golf today we had an hour of putting outside on the putting green in the full sunshine and heat - I felt very ready to go indoors after that.
I was too hot to bother going off to find a possible photo today, so my garden came to my rescue. I am very disappointed how many flowers we have planted that have not returned this year - a couple of years ago I had some magnificent agapanthus but they don't seem to have come back this year. Ditto for the rudbeckia, snake head fritillaries, echinacea flowers...the list is endless and it is all very disappointing. We only seem to have masses of geranium rozanne which quite frankly I am bored with now, and our beautiful white Annabelle hydrangeas, and some roses. I feel we need to replant most of our flower beds.
The squirrels in our garden are so cheeky - for the second time this week I have gone out to rescue a squirrel that has got trapped in the space between the bird food container and the squirrel proof cage over it. The squirrel looked well and truly stuck and I was not sure how to get it out as the spaces between the bars did not seem big enough for it to fit through - but logically I knew it had managed to get in so it must be able to get out - in it's panic at seeing me it managed to squeeze through the bars and make a flying leap into the tree.
We are meeting some friends for supper tonight at the club which will be good as I then don't have to cook on such a hot evening.
