Evesham Bell Tower
Today's outing was to Evesham for the market, this proved rather small, though we did buy a bag of misshaped Garibaldi biscuits as they don't melt in the heat. The Kent cherries had sold out by the time we returned for them.
We wandered down to the bridge then realised that the Methodist Church next to it was serving coffee so went in, were warmly welcomed and joined a couple from Hereford at their table and spent an hour in conversation.
From there we went round the abbey grounds, my photo is the detached bell tower, built in the C16, the fourth on that site, it is the only building of the Abbey to survive intact.
After a good while admiring the many half-timbered buildings and reading information boards it was time to return to the car, we bought sandwiches and drove across to the south bank, parked (for free!) and relaxed by the river, watching the world go by. Then we walked up the street south of the bridge, clearly a multicultural area, where the shops were either foreign food or barbers. From there we worked our way back to the car to return home, the temperature reading 26°C.
Tomorrow the forecast is for more sunshine, I wonder if there any nice cool cave systems nearby,?
