At the Toronto FC Academy tournament in Orleans

Following his late night, Ottawacker Jr. managed to get up early to go to his tournament in Orleans (the Toronto FC tournament). I, for once, stayed in bed. I slept badly. Mrs. Ottawacker drove him and Lucas in – then they came back after the first match (3-1 win over OFC, during which he apparently pulled off a great save).

Then off to a garage sale in Lucas’s neighbourhood, and Mrs. Ottawacker came home for brunch with me. Caught up on my blips.

It was turning into a beautiful day, so when Ottawacker Jr. came to head off to his second set of two games, I though I would chance it and see how it went. Surprisingly, all was good. I was on crutches, which helped, and somebody brought beer, which helped even more. It was strange to not be involved in the warming up process, but he co-opted an injured player to do it, so it all went well. At one stage I looked over and he actually had players from both teams warming him up. Not sure how he manages it.

Anyway, Ottawacker Jr.’s team won both of their matches – against the tournament hosts Toronto FC Academy (2-1) and West Ottawa SC (6-0). Headed back home around 6pm, completely sunburned, but glad to have been outside for once. Who knows, I might even try it again tomorrow.
