View from old road to Mam Tor , Peak District .

The day began on a very pleasant campsite which is located along the River Soar( Leicestershire) and a large nature reserve.
It’s fairly close to a big chunk of the family so it’s one we will be going back to. Barn Owls have started breeding in the reserve and being close to the river meant there were lots of pools suitable for wading birds ( I forgot my binocs !!)
The afternoon was spent with Isaac and family playing in the woods that are close to where they live , I’m thrilled by how much joy the little family get from those simple pleasures , animals were tracked , fallen tree trunks run along , sticks carried and accompanied by the strong scent of wild garlic .
As we drive over on Thursday we had spotted a place to “wild camp,” and had a plan to return Sunday night which we did . It was once a through road linking Castleton to Chapel en Le Frith , the geology means that the area is prone to land slippage and has been for over 3000 years and so it’s no longer deemed safe and the upper part belongs to the NT .Areas for parking have been laid out along its length and it is perfect for a night in a MH . Wide sweeping views , plenty of interesting walking routes and the village nearby . A lot of camper vanners stay here and as we walked up the length of the road we were delighted to see a complete absence of rubbish and no evidence of people letting out their grey water . We rarely see mess left by people in MH and camper vans but there is a lot about it in the news .
