A 3-part day in Scotland’s highlands
Part one: partway up the Nevis mountain range via gondola to the higher slopes of Aonach Mòr with beautiful panoramic views below — until the mist moved in.
Part two: train ride from Ft Williams to Crianlarich via Rannoch Moor and one of the few remaining untouched wilderness.
Part three: Ride through Glencoe, also referred to as the glen of sorrow or sadness for the 1692 massacre of the entire McDonald clan by the Campbell clan with full support from the British king and his soldiers who were asked to “take the sword to anyone under the age of 70” whether man, woman, or child. The massacre served as ‘an example’ in the aftermath of a Jacobite uprising. The wonderful visitor center goes through the history and geology of Glencoe and features a reconstructed thatched roof house.
Beautiful scenery throughout! Add’l pix in the extras.
