Posing for walkingMarj
I am aware that I have been absent for a while. The explanation for this can be found below.
Today stands out for two reasons. The first reason is the weather. It has been very still, warm, and overcast. Had it not been for the cloud cover, we would have roasted in the heat. Instead, we all experienced a gentle poaching as we enjoyed ourselves out and about in Uig. The second reason is the sudden loss of contact with the outside world! We were happily munching our way through our lunchtime toasties at the community café when the local 4G base station went out of action. At the time, we didn't think that the drop in connection was anything more than a simple fault with the network in the café, nor did we realise that we would be without the Internet in the immediate area (including our accommodation) for the remainder of our holiday.
As for the day's activities, after calling for walkingMarj at her pod this morning, we walked over the fields to the Mangersta bothy. Inside we found a young couple who were packing up after spending the night there. Soon afterwards an Australian/New Zealander family of five - father, mother, daughter 1 who lives in Stornoway, daughter 2 and granddaughter - joined us on the rocks outside the bothy as we were partaking of tea and biscuits. We enjoyed chatting to the family. However, I spent most of the time distracted from the conversation, wondering which member of the family would be the first to disappear over the cliff. They just couldn't keep still, and the grandfather looked very accident prone because he was already wearing a leg brace having fallen out of a bath(!) earlier on in his European holiday.
Our second expedition of the morning was a return visit to the caves that we first encountered with walkingMarj in May 2016. Mr hazelh willingly posed for a reprise of the beautiful shot that walkingMarj took of him on our previous visit.
After lunch at the café, walkingMarj headed back to her pod for a rest while Mr hazelh and I set off on expedition number 3: to the river for a swim. We didn't stay in the water very long at all, but we made sure that there was time to grant snapper her wish for a shot of Mr hazelh emerging from the water Halle Berry-style (extra). After our dip, we took the long way back to Baile-na-Cille by walking all the way down to the shore line and then back up to the house along the river.
walkingMarj joined us again in the evening for curry and Carcassonne.
Exercise today: small amount of walking (8,642 steps), tiny amount of swimming.
