Tobermory trip
My friend Tim & I went to the Isle of Mull today, in spite of a dodgy weather forecast! Tim wanted to go, so we went. Took the Chugging Bathtub (aka Loch Friosa) to Craignure and then the bus to Tobermory. We walked up and down the seafront several times, had a coffee, visited a small art exhibition, and had lunch in the Mishnish Hotel, where Mrs & I stayed for a couple of night back in the early 1970s.
Along the seafront is the Clock Tower, my Blip today. It was built in 1905 and endowed by the Victorian artist and traveller, Isabella Bird, in memory of her sister who lived in Tobermory and died there of Typhoid in 1880.
We then enjoyed a look round the Himalayan Craft Fair, which specialises in Fair Trade goods from Nepal and India, and caught the bus back to Craignure and boarded the ferry back to Oban. Not the best of days, but Tim enjoyed it and I can go back anytime!
