Roses and peonies and poppies

This afternoon we went round to Perdie's house where her mum and dad had opened their beautiful garden in aid of the church.  Mr Sk helped out with cutting up and serving all the cakes and I found myself doing the washing up for a good hour and a half!  All of us helpers were  completely taken aback with how many people turned up.  We estimate that about 300 people came and it seemed they were more intent on getting some tea and cake than looking round the garden and so we kept running out of cups, saucers and plates!  Hopefully a good amount of money will have been raised for the upkeep of the fabric of the church but honestly it never stopped!  

I took this photo as we arrived and I've added an extra which I took at the end of the afternoon when I finally emerged from the scullery (!) and when sadly the sun had gone in. Time to sit down now and relax!
