Afternoon out in Enniskillen
The early 17th century Watergate at Enniskillen Castle, where we spent an enjoyable afternoon exploring the museum (and taking advantage of the excellent cafe). We also needed some information about other places we're planning to visit during the week, and the tourist desk at the museum quickly provided all that.
A castle was originally built here in the early 15th century, after which various cycles of siege, destruction, massacre and remodelling followed.
As we watch war escalate in the Middle East, tragically, this all seems depressingly familiar territory.
