Chips with everything
We were up earlyish this morning to catch our housesitters before they left. We had a quick chat with them, and they said they'd really enjoyed being here despite their almost total lack of French. They had a good mix of activities -- castles, medieval villages, pizza night, the friterie belge, the beach, and even a few days in Paris. Vicki had taken the time to wash all the bedlinen and towels this morning, which I truly appreciated given the amount of dirty washing we'd brought back with us. And the house was spotless.
The usual post-holiday activities of unpacking, washing, and generally settling in. Being Friday, it's the Belgian chip van in the evening. I'd discovered T was here for a flying visit from Ireland, returning tomorrow, and I know how much she likes her chips, so I invited her over to join us.
The chip van was less manic than the first time -- it arrived on time, and the chip guy had his mum to help him instead of coping on his own with a famished horde all arriving at once. We downed plenty of rosé along with our hamburgers and huge shared helping of very good chips -- thumbs up from T. Still baffled by all the sauces even after Belgian friend C tried to explain them to me. We'll just have to try them one by one. And don't even ask me what a "Bicky wrap" is. Though given my weight gain during our holiday I'm definitely not going to indulge every week. The diet starts here.
