"... can I stay?"

What a difference a clipper and a wash make. Doesn't she look tiny?! 

Turns out she is a Maltese! Impossible to know how she ended up as a stray, but it looks like she's staying now as she never got chipped. 

She has bonded very quickly, really quite a sweet dog. I love her gaze & how her wee paws are holding onto the cushion there.
