Book Project: Highlights and Shadows
During February, March and into April I was collecting images for a project I called Highlights and Shadows. Because of the bright sun there were lots of shadow patterns along the roads and on the road surface. The dark/ black tones were emphasised in the mud at the side of the roads but as these dried out I hadn’t got the contrasting tones in the images and my focus changed. I’m a good starter with projects but a terrible finisher, so inspired by book artist Shona Grant, I was determined to make a start on choosing images that I thought would work and then follow by finally getting them printed. An ongoing process. My initial thoughts were that I would create a zine and initially I used the Shrimpzine software, but in order to arrange them into a suitable arrangement for publishing I decided would start with printed images and create a concertina book.
I haven’t used the A3 printer for a while, so I was just relieved it worked, even though it was demanding more ink for 4 cartridges. I also think you have to get your eye in with printing, so I was learning as I went on. I’m hoping to finish printing today and to come up with a few words by way of an introduction. I’ll then need to cut some card for bookends, so it will stand up and maybe I’ll need to cover the card pieces. So quite a bit of work to do yet.
I began the afternoon talking to Lyn and then ended by walking Dance Lane and back before I came back to sort out my tea. I still had some M&S small battered fish balls left in the freezer. I’d forgotten how good they are. I seem to have managed to get the timing right in the airfryer which has done them to perfection. I’m trying to run my freezer down, but they will be back on my list when I restock.
As a reminder: I chatted with the woman who lives in Dance Lane farm but we didn’t exchange names - silly of me. She’d just returned from Malaga.
P.s I’m not sure how my signature got here, I’ll need to check when I next upload. Something must be ticked.
And thank you to everyone who left me a message on my blipday. I’ve done so many entries now that I forget the number. So thank you again.
