Life in Sunny Dubai

By GadgetKid

Dusk

The day started nicely and leisurely, but it got hectic in the evening! First off, G had a meeting that I dropped her off at. I then ran a couple of errands before collecting her and the person she met with (Anna). Anna needed a ride to the nearest police station to open a case about a stolen cheque.

The intention was to check out a new branch of Spinneys in Dubai Mall, which I became aware of on Wednesday, but both G & I were ready to come home. I'm so pleased we did as we caught some of the Trooping of the Colour courtesy of BBC World.

Come the evening, it was time to head out to return the hire car. All went well there. No new scratches. Phew. We then took the Metro back. That was not nice at all. It was so packed, I don't know how people use that as their main form of transport.

We got off at DWTC, which is my work Metro station. I wanted G to try the San Sebastian cheesecake I'd had a few months ago, but this dessert is so elusive. As it happens, the restaurant is not open on the weekend. Argh.

I got to introduce G to another outlet, though - Tahini. It's pricey, but the food is exceptional, and G agreed. It's her new favourite restaurant! ;)

I raced out to get the picture that I've used as my main image. After dinner, I walked G around the area around the office. Those yashmaks look different in the night. G duly posed for me. And then we walked through the Cinema. It is so open - no doors, you walk in and walk out! The taxi ride home took over thirty minutes, but there was no way I was getting on a Metro again for a long long long time, if I can help it.
