Lunch

It felt even hotter today, probably the absence of any breeze. It was good to hear the sound of the river as we trekked towards Garni Temple, about 30km from Yeveran. It is apparently the eastern most building in the Greco-Roman world, reconstructed by the Soviet Union which is allowed if more than 40% of the original building is intact.
We were more than ready for lunch, our appetiser was an Armenia sandwich made with lavash a delicious super thin flat bread baked in a clay oven. The ingredients are flour, water and salt. I fully I tend to make a Scottish version when I get home.
Back in the minibus for a short drive to the Monastery of Geghard which is built into the rock and surrounded by towering cliffs of basalt. In one of the chapels we listened to a quartet singing an anthem of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
A 90 minute drive back to Yerevan and a chance to see the monument of Mother Armenia, extra, yesterday the heavy traffic made it impossible. Dinner in the hotel which took for ever to arrive but was delicious when it did.
No bag, best hope now is one day next week when we travel to Tbilisi.
