Fail to plan, plan to fail.

Our annual family gathering today, in Monikie Country Park (they have a big marquee). For us it was not to be. A series of events enfolded.

Mrs FP has been putting in many hours over the past months creating crafty stuff for the WI Highland show competition. We were going to hand them in tomorrow. As we were about to head out to Monikie she discovered that the closing date for entries was today! Ok, we would arrive a little late for the gathering but we could squeeze in a run to the Pavilion at Ingliston Showground to hand them in. The weather was dreadful, thunder, lightening and a biblical downpour. We pulled onto the motorway (M9) and almost straight away we joined the end of a huge tailback. Long delay. Eventually the traffic began to clear, by the time we got through all that remained was the burnt out shell of a smashed up land rover discovery being hauled onto a recovery vehicle.

Mrs FP had a print out of instruction to get to the Pavilion, either they were rubbish or we got it well wrong. Mrs  FP had a yomp right across the showground, it is a very big showground. By the time she returned to the car we had lost the window of opportunity for the gathering. Hey ho.

So with no family group shot to blip we called into our local garden centre and discovered it was World Wide Knit in Public Day. Who knew? Well these ladies obviously (they had commandeered the furniture section of the store), many of whom Mrs FP knew. Blethers ensued.

As I sign off today's report the rain is coming down again.

Happy days.
