Ladybird, ladybird; fly away ho... oh, never mind.
I was sat in the garden, beer in hand and listening to an audiobook, when this emperor(ess) dragonfly flew through the garden and took the ladybird on the wing... what a day to be pretty... the aphids will have to take care of themselves.
She settled on the foxglove almost next to where I was now standing. Of course, I had entirely the wrong lens on, so I scarpered indoors and returned with the 400... I know I wouldn't be allowed close enough for the macro while she was eating.
I watched in somewhat grisly fascination, as over the next few shots the ladybird was squishily devoured. Honestly, I should stick to landscapes...
Do go large for extra special sauce...
