Yucca Flower
I'm glad I didn't realize it was Friday the 13th until fairly late in the day because it was one of those days where I was running from one thing to another all day. We have a lot of agaves that flower ranging from ones that flower every 30 -100 years and die to ones that flower not very often but don't die, to these yuccas which flower every year and continue to multiply. Yuccas are a different species from agaves but have quite a few similarities. Unlike most agave flowers these are quite beautiful.
The power company turned off our power this morning at 8:30. It was announced ahead of time so John remembered to get the car out of the garage ahead of time. The power went off on schedule but the only thing that is likely to affect us during the daytime is the water, so we'd filled a couple of flasks with water. We were about to leave for coffee when a voice emanated from the tv room. We had forgotten about the back-up system we installed at great cost because they kept turning it off unannounced. For some reason the television goes on when the back up power goes on, even if the television wasn't on.
Driving down our very narrow street we barely made it past the PG&E truck parked on a curve. They were doing something with a power pole but we didn't stick around to find out what. The road was blocked in the same place earlier in the week by tree trucks cutting down a tree , apparently in preparation for whatever they did today.
Tomorrow is NO KING DAY and there will be protests across the country., including marches and demonstrations in almost every town and city in Sonoma County. We plan to go to the one in Santa Rosa and were discussing what we would put on our signs. John said something that many of us are thinking but would never put on a sign. He revised it to 'Impeach Trump'. I decided on 'Democracy not Monarchy.' I'm sure neither of these is original but it's what we believe.
A visit to my neighbor who has a week to go on crutches who requested that I bring Spike because her dog Hazel is 'bored with me. So am I!!!!'
That turned into a case of the zoomies for Hazel and Spike trying to keep his kong away from Hazel. It was like a clown show trying to get Spike out the door and getting Hazel back in the door because Cindy couldn't chase her.
I rounded out the day making yet another trip to the dermatology clinic across town for what turned to be one last chemotherapy injection on my leg and another biopsy on something she spotted on my arm as I was headed out the door. I asked her if any oof these ever went away on their own and she said some do, so I asked her if it would be worthwhile to wait awhile before excising them to see if they'd go away. Of course she didn't recommend it...
It is now wine time and I think I'll have a double!
