Paper Nautilus

It's exciting to find one of these delicate shells on the beach. I used to have one that I found wedged between two rocks, but it broke after a while. This beautiful shell was found by my sister on the main beach. She wisely had it block mounted so it is well preserved.
''The paper nautilus shell is actually an eggcase secreted by the female argonaut octopus. While it's often referred to as a shell, it's a brood chamber used to protect the eggs, not a true cephalopod shell like those found in chambered nautilus. The shell is paper-thin and made of a tough, calcite compound."

I played golf this morning - it's been a beautiful day. Äfterwards I took hubby T to his club and then went to the shopping mall for lunch and to do some shopping. I also went to look at ovens and extractor fans for our new unit at Summer Dunes.
I then went to sister M where we watched some of  the third day of the World Test Championship cricket finals at Lords. SA did well today - holding thumbs for a win against Australia.
