Out and About

Herdla Fort

Built by the Germans but used by the Norwegians as part of their coastal defence until 2000. The gun emplacements and torpedo shoots are much in evidence.
In WW2 the Germans took over the island and told the locals to go elsewhere.   It's now linked to the mainland by bridges and you can get there on the unbelievably efficient Norwegian public transport. Click the map pin to see where we were, quite amazing that we could get to Herdla by bus.
Blip is a goat guarding one of the gun emplacements.  Extra is R and M playing on the  frisbee golf course around the island.  Danger of getting your frisbee in the sea.  R had to strip off and swim out to rescue one of his.
