Pegasus Bridge
After a dreadful night sleep we headed into Caen for breakfast, coffee and several croissants. Then we went to take a drive along sword beach which was quite remarkable when you put it into the context of WW2 and the day landings.. After this we went to the Pegasus Bridge museum. It is an amazing place for an amazing achievement. We watched a film narrated by King Charles about the heroic exploits of those who served on DDay. Pegasus Bridge was a key target which had to be taken before DDay. The mission planning and execution were just incredible and the museum is absolutely brilliant.
This is a picture of the actual Pegasus Bridge which is no longer use but was removed in the 90s and replaced by a bigger one. It’s quite an incredible thing to see.
After this amazing piece of culture we hit the back roads down to Le Mans, it took a few hours, we stopped for a baguette for lunch on the way. Once here set up camp and then watched the qualifying.
Had a few beers and now it’s time for bed.
