Heart Warming

I popped in to the pharmacy to get my covid jab. While I was queuing a lady of my vintage pushing a pram sat down next to me. I looked into the pram and there was a tiny new baby.

Wow I said. Are you grandma? She paused and I thought I had made an embarrassing mistake*. Well, she explained that the baby was being fostered. Only five weeks old. Her son and his wife have fostered her and the little girl will be passed on, hopefully to be adopted, in six weeks time.

The lady went on to say that she and her husband had been unable to have children all those years ago so had adopted two children themselves. They are the best things I have ever done she said and remains close to her children. Who themselves have gone on to foster.

What a wonderful story. And my jab didn't hurt.
