A New Leaf
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,
I have sometimes talked about money on here, but hopefully not too much.
Nevertheless, it has been a worry.
Long story short, 2023 was a bad and EXPENSIVE year for us. For reasons I will not reiterate we had to take out a couple of loans that we could juuuuuust service. But it was tight.
But in March 2023 finally the loans were gone. Plus interest rates had dropped and Caro had gone to full time work. Things were looking up.
Then my contract ended.
Thank you so very effing much, o Cruel Fate.
I was really concerned we might have to take out ANOTHER loan having just paid off the previous one. But we managed to SQUEAK through the last 3 months just about - on Caro's wage plus the week of work I managed to sneak in back in April.
But TODAY was the day I got a real, full, month's paycheck for May.
Me and Caro had been waiting and waiting. Occasionally we'd even find ourselves chanting JUNE THE TENTH! JUNE - THE - TENTH!!
And now it was here.
It was beautiful.
A month's wages made the world of difference. I paid off about 50% of our credit cards, bought enough groceries to keep us going for ages, put enough money into our current account to keep us afloat AND there was even some put aside for contingency!
I also made Caro a PowerPoint presentation* showing how things were going to change from now on and that we could relax a lot.
It is a huge weight off my mind.
Then we celebrated with pizza for us and chicken tenders for Punky.
June the Tenth was a very good day.
S.
* It was a funny one. I'm not a monster.
