Gone Fishing...

If you aren't a fan of arachnids, I will certainly understand if you just 'move-on'. Naturally, I'm fascinated by spiders and the Six-spotted Fishing Spider, Dolomedes triton, is right up there with my favorites. Sometimes called 'Dock Spiders', these Fishing Spiders are found in wetland habitats throughout North America. Not only are they able to walk on the water's surface but they can dive 7inches to capture fish five times their own size! They catch and consume insects, tadpoles, frogs and even small vertebrates but are harmless to humans.  m
