SW Broadway
I've been documenting this tree on and off for years. The space, a long time ago, was a fancy floral shop and the open courtyard area in front a jungle of wonderful and exotic plants. When they moved out it became a games shop. I can't remember when they moved out but the space has been empty for some time. The tree continues to grow.
There's another, now empty building, on inner NE Sandy Blvd. that we drive past, usually on our route to PDX. It used to be an Italian restaurant and in an upstairs office window has always been a huge plant growing in the sun trap of window. It fills the entire corner window, pressed up against the glass. The business now gone, but the plant endures, although it is looking less great.
These empty buildings with nature trapped inside. They bring to mind the trapped plants during the pandemic, the floors and floors of empty office buildings filled with trees and plants. I remember reading there were people who couldn't stand it and would sneak back in to water/feed them.
Rambling thoughts...
