Large Skipper
Went wandering in the hunt for marbled white butterflies today and failed miserably! I visited the local Downs which are still having lots of work done under the guise of 'grassland restoration', but all I'm seeing is more areas mown/scalped and new barbed wire fences being put in, so the areas that used to be rich in butterfly/bee activity were painfully quiet - put me in a bit of a grumpy mood lol!
On the positives, there were lots of fresh Comma butterflies about, and also spotted a large skipper, with a couple of small skippers, as well as a meadow brown, small heath and small tortoiseshell.
Feeling very warm in the sunshine this afternoon.
