Aiding and Abetting
Dear O'H dear, Lovely Tea Jenny and The Mini Princesses,
I went out to see Mary Doll and Victor today. Victor had his hearing aids fitted last week and Mary Doll had a bit of FOMO.
“Your dad has his phone calls coming through his hearing aids but I don’t,” she said, handing me her phone. “You try phoning me.”
I did but had forgotten that her phone has the ringer set to maximum volume. Her calls also come through on her iPad which was next to me. Also with the ringer set to maximum.
“Definitely not coming through,” she confirmed.
“I’m not sure you’d hear it above the ringing on your phone,” I suggested after checking the Bluetooth connection.
“Right. You keep my phone and I’ll go through to the kitchen and you can phone me again,” she instructed as she trotted off.
I tried again and was just about to hang up and end test cycle 2 to prevent damage to my own hearing when I noticed another call coming through to her phone.
I looked up.
“Dad, why are YOU calling mum’s phone?”
“I thought I’d try from my phone too.”
There was internal swearing at this point as my senses felt very overloaded.
Mary Doll came back through and confirmed that she hadn’t heard either call through her hearing aids. I managed to persuade her to wait until her next audiology appointment AS IT’S TOMORROW!
“I’ll be able to tell The Prince when I get home that we all sat in the same room calling each other,” I muttered. “Starting to see possible advantages to going deaf.”
That earned me a whack on the arm. Those hearing aids definitely work!
