My Life With Luna

By chrisA

As I was deadheading the Scabious I came across this Misumera vatia, otherwise known as a Flower Crab Spider ot Goldenrod Crab Spider, they move in a crab like fashion..
Females are either white or yellow and can change colour to match flowers they inhabit, as can be seen in the pink patches on this spiders side.   Males cannot do this.   The spiders are ambush predators waiting on flowers to catch their prey with venom strong enough to kill bees or butterflies but not dangerous to humans as their fangs are to small to penetrate human skin.    They do not spin webs.
It's been a beautiful day so I cut all the grass including the river banks this afternoon, according to my phone pedometer I've walked 6 miles - three on our walk this morning and three in the garden this afternoon.
