The area we are staying in was extensively mined for ironstone and there are amazing remains of the ironstone industry all around us

This is the remains of a set of kilns used in the industry, now part of a heritage trail around the valley. Also managed to visit a fantastic folk museum with buildings from around Yorkshire in an open air museum.
