We are both still suffering having spent such a long time in the car yesterday so we decided to motorway and tolls today. Zoomed south past Dijon (no mustard) past Beaune and Macon (no wine) and finally stopped at Bourg en Bresse .
The Royal Monastery of Brue is here. I had never heard of it but it is famous (justifiably) in France Very tall and with intricate stone carving. The roof is laid out in a three colour diamond pattern, quite eye-catching. Beautiful buildings..
I was stuck what to blip today, last night's chateau, tonight's chateau or the monastery, the last one won
Tonight's chateau is a historic building, started some 900 years ago. Franck, the current owner, gave us a tour, started in the dungeons, the oldest part, then along the Italian balcony and finally to his own living room. We passed several suits of armour and lots of old weapons as we toured around.
Franck told us his ancestors bought the place  before the French Revolution. Despite being royalists they did not loose their heads.Franck is still a royalist, he met King Charles when he was still very young and has the phone number of the current pretender to the French throne.
We seem to be moving in rather posh circles today.
Might blip this place for tomorrow
Right now sitting with gin and tonic looking out over the water meadow that surrounds the chateau watching White Ibex and Grey Heron (I think)
Life is not bad
I have just found that the tower in which our bathroom is placed was mentioned in notes from a German mercenary in 1488. It has been refurbished since
