Goatfell
Walking in Arran today. We took the ferry at 9.45am and had a nice breakfast on board on the way to the island. Once there we walked from the ferry terminal, up Fairy Glen and a circular route back round by Auchrannie, about 7.5 miles in all.
On our way back to Brodick we have to cross a right of way in which there are usually horses. They are usually very well behaved and don't bother us, but today there was rather a frisky one, and he galloped up and down. We made it almost to the gate, when he came galloping up and did his best to get into our packs, it was quite funny. Some nipped over the fence, some tried to dissuade him, and he was neighing loudly at times. However, we all made it through in the end.
Had a nice break in Brodick after the walk, having tea and ice cream, until the ferry arrived.
We were very lucky with the weather as the forecast was for heavy rain in the morning, and showers in the afternoon In the event, we had just a little rain as we started walking, and it was dry though dull until lunchtime, when the sun came out with a vengeance, and it was hot. No complaints there.
