Cassius Blue Butterfly...

This tiny (wingspread 3/4-15/16 inches)creature is the Cassius Blue butterfly, Leptotes cassius. I occasionally see them on our Tropical Sage and Plumbago flowers. When their wings are open, displaying the top sides, you can see a beautiful light blue color on the male and less blue on the female. I've not been fortunate enough to get a good shot of one with their wings open. You'll need to google that one! IFAS refers to this beauty as 'locally common throughout Florida-particularly along the coasts'. Their range extends into Texas and south into the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America. The larvae of the Cassius Blue are approx 1/2" long and green with scalloped edges and faint white markings.  m
