More gardening, potatoes now planted.

Potatoe types planted - Solist and Mandel
Today I didn't leave our house and garden. I wanted to get the potatoes in the earth and rain was forecast so I set to work.
It wasn't just planting the spuds; I was also expanding the bed. The area I was turning into the potato patch had for years been full of comfrey and couch grass. I'd started the task last autumn by digging out the comfrey plants as best I could, but I knew there were huge roots left in the ground.
In the end the rain didn't arrive until after 5 o'clock which gave me time to thoroughly dig through the earth, removing those huge comfrey roots and the nets of couch grass roots. Finally I put the last of the potatoes into the ground, cleared away my tools, and took those cleared roots and weeds into the forest. Just as I finished large drops of rain fell from a very dark overhead cloud. I took my blip of the scene and retreated indoors.
My timing was impeccable as Jan was just fetching the second batch of fruit buns out of the oven. I collapsed into a chair and got to taste both batches - delicious.
Also in my blip is some of our lawn. All the bits that our robo-mower doesn't cut got mowed by Jan this morning. That's a couple of hours of heavy work because it includes all the fiddly bits and sloping sections.  Mowing the grass and baking buns - many thanks for all that work Jan!!
I'll be posting my blips (yesterday and today's) and then heading for bed, where I'm sure I'll sleep really well!
