Lazy day

We both had a terrible night’s sleep. When S was awake he was coughing, and when he was asleep he was snoring. As a result I didn’t get much sleep either. Paradoxically, S decided he was fit enough to go walking while I, bleary-eyed and still tired from the last two days’ efforts, decided to take a day off.

After breakfast I went back to bed for an hour and woke up feeling revived. I did some washing and a bit of blip catchup, including posting a back blip. In order to have a blip for today, I went out onto the steps of the hotel and took a photo of the view. If you should ever be in Aosta, I can highly recommend the Hotel Diana. It’s slightly old-fashioned but comfortable and quiet, the breakfast is really excellent with loads of choice (and excellent coffee of course), and the staff are absolutely lovely — service with a smile, and nothing is too much trouble.

The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant and there’s nowhere nearby, but this was not a problem as I just raided the leftovers in the fridge in our room for lunch. Including the quiche I bought for S. I ate another quarter, concurred with his assessment, and threw the rest in the bin. Read my book for the first time since we’ve been here and lounged in the afternoon

The others returned tired after a high-level yomp, featuring some rain. In the evening all of us minus S went to the agriturismo just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel and had a good, homely meal featuring their own produce. It was good value, and they even had a vegetarian menu!
