Ladybird Larva and Pupa

I think these are the larva (on the left) and the pupa of a harlequin ladybird. They were found nearby on my pyracantha hedge. The batteries had gone on my old weather station and needed replacing. That's on a pole behind the hedge, so first I had to cut back the longer branches on top with vicious thorns so I could get to it. Once the batteries had been changed, I then neatened up the rest of the hedge - leaving it with a one metre wide haircut would have been odd! I also did some weeding and mowed the lawn. So now my garden bin is nearly full, ready for emptying later in the week. This afternoon I watched the women's tennis at Queens, the first time women have been allowed to play at Queens for 52 years - unfortunately not with equal pay to the men!  Britain's Sonay Kartal beat Kasatkina who is ranked 16 in the World, her biggest win ever. I nearly missed the last game where she served it out, as the BBC stopped transmission on BBC2 and transferred it to iPlayer. It was replaced by football, but I don't understand why they couldn't stay until the end (a few mins), particularly as they put a trailer on before the football, and that match didn't start for another 15 minutes.
