Devastation averted

When I last saw this nest I wondered if the hen would see any chicks - the nest seemed so vulnerable. Coming back almost a month later I was alarmed to see that a massive bough had fallen into the pond. Fortunately it had just missed the nest. Then wondrously in swam the Coot family with two chicks!
