Woke early to prepare for our visit to Heimaey, Iceland. The conditions were 5 metre sea waves and 30 knot winds. As we were due to anchor approximately 2 miles out to sea and tendering into port the rough conditions meant the visit had to be cancelled. Instead we had a tour around the islands and then set sail for Reykjavik. The island in the photograph was created in 1963 as a result of volcanic eruption 130m below on the sea bed. The island is approx. 300m at the highest point and there is a hut for visiting volcanologists.
