A view from Jeanneb

No picnic in the park!

Last week we walked to Roberts Park to see the big red balloon. I took a view of it through the lovely decorated bandstand and mentioned that today we would be singing there this afternoon.
A bright and breezy morning and a very good all ages service for Pentecost with our Rector Richard, this sadly will be the last service we have with him as he moves on at the end of the month.
At the end of the service I arranged with friend K that Chris would take me to the park to sing and he would bring me back. We set off with Chris (who had chosen not to sing) muttering we’d be far too early for the 2.00 pm start. There was an absolute deluge of rain on the way and this seemed to have made the traffic terrible. We arrived just as the 2.00 pm news started on the radio and met singers we knew just as they were leaving. It has been cancelled. Not surprised the rain was atrocious.  Of course it was sunny all the way back! At least I didn't get wet.

Thankfully I had taken this shot of the single bloom on our new ‘Bowl of Beauty’ peony. It is currently still in the pot and we need to decide where to put it. Our other pink peony hasn’t had a single flower this year perhaps due to the earlier dry weather though the red one was in full bloom when we got back from Scotland.

The singing has been rescheduled to the end of August so let’s hope for better weather then.
