Glowering skies .

A round trip with the aim of avoiding showers so that Bramble could have a decent walk ( she got the walk but in the rain) , a drop off of clothes ( that were hard to part with)to the charity shop , several shop stop offs ( so that NC could purchase his beloved crumpets at a knock down price ) followed by a visit to B and Q to buy some plants etc . The etc was a lock for our pen to prevent the theft of fruit and other produce which is what happened last year and also some flowering plants to replace those taken by the drought earlier in the season .
Once home , I opened the windows so I could hear the rain falling and made some biscuits , oatcakes and a rhubarb and gooseberry crumble .We also managed a few fine weather hours across on the pen . NC fixed the gate plus lock and I sowed some seeds , Dhaniya, Dill and filled some pots with soil in readiness for the children’s visits next week . They are keen to sow vegetable seeds . The sunflower seeds they planted a few weeks ago are doing well , it will soon be time for them to take them home !
