Hillside Walk

On Monday evening I went for a beautiful walk to explore a path most of which I had not walked before. From the valley, it strikes up the hillside in a straight line through a field where, this year, wheat is growing; last year, I photographed it in August as I walked through chest high oats just before harvest. Beyond the cultivated field, the path continues up the edge of a steep meadow which for several years has been grazed by cattle, with a warning sign about a bull prominently attached to the kissing gate. Consequently, I had not ventured in; but this year the meadow stands empty, and was a delight to walk through, with expanses of moon daisies and buttercups under a vividly blue sky filled with the song of skylarks.
