Second maiden voyage
We had a very special morning today, rowing for the first time with this eight (exceptionally I am using a picture from a friend, as I had no free hand). The boat is not new, approx. 20 to 30 years old and a top class competition boat of that period. Still everything is made out of wood.
The story behind is, that the former owner (club) decided to buy a new eight, and not having enough space in the boatshouse our small & young club received this boat for free. So today was the first go, learning how to handle and row such a racing boat (as we all are recreational rowers). Everything went fine and working/rowing in such a large team was a very special experience. Not yet on olympic level, but a good start with fun and passing a good time.
Anyway, something I appreciate on the rowing sport, is the possibility to perform it individually or in a team.
