Rocket

Eruca sativa. Also known as arugula or roquette.

Rocket is a handy herb to have naturalised in the garden. There are always a few plants inside and outside the greenhouse to provide me with winter greens. I add it to soups, casseroles, and frittata. At present I'm using it to extend my meagre supply of silver beet and black cabbage. They are surprisingly pleasant mixed together.

I always let some plants go to seed to keep the supply going. I love the flowers. They have a delicate cross shape, creamy white with reddish purple veins. They are also very attractive when pressed.
