Syrphus
Or in plain English, a Flower Fly, in the Hoverfly family. I think this is S. ribesii although I am not 100% certain. Either way, it's a largish fly and, in this instance, a male. They are excellent pollinators and their larva eat aphids, so definitely a beneficial bug! And since they are bee-mimics, they are not as likely to become food for birds (although it can and does happen).
I had my initial appointment for therapy today although, due to a misunderstanding on my part, today's visit was to discuss and adjust meds (which is fine as I know I need a change). I will see a therapist in their practice in the next few weeks, hopefully.
Our high temp today is 84F which feels nice after such a cool May. Humidity is still (relatively) low and a nice breeze so it's quite pleasant out. Tomorrow will be more of the same, although I'm not sure how much time I will have to get out as I have a morning meeting and then a lunch date with friends.
Barely a month before I head to Brazil!
xoxo
