…with a surcharge, meant for the young people (Jugendmarken), were advertised by this cardboard folder, fifty years ago.

Here featuring two historical steam engines (in this country, steam haulage lasted until 1976/7; in East Germany even longer), an electric express railcar (class 403), and the magnetic monorail train (meanwhile disused).

Interesting to compare the mail prices, a domestic letter was 40 Pfennig then, a postcard 30 Pf. — today’s price is 95 cents for either, five times of 1975.

I rediscovered this piece of collection in some long packed away box, on a rainy day.
