Wheat is the most widely cultivated crop in the world and the staple crop in many countries. The field of wheat beside the house looks good perhaps because of the earlier warm sunny weather and now the rain.  Probably if this wheat stalk had not been picked, the tiny grains would be used to make flour for bread, pasta or baking.  Other grain flours are available but this is the most common.
