Breakwater
We had decided to take an extra night on our return, staying at the coast. The journey started badly with the satnav recalibrating itself and taking us towards Paris instead of Rouen adding 50 or 60 kilometres to our journey by the time we got back track. After that, everything went smoothly and we arrived in Calais in time to drive to a restaurant we know in Sangatte. We shared a goat’s cheese salad and a fish dish followed by coffee. We passed on desserts saving some room for ice cream in the afternoon. To work up some appetite, we had a windy walk on the deserted beach. Mrs. TT insisted of climbing down the rocks rather than following me down the ramp! The light was lovely. This coastline is after all called the Côte Opale. We then went into the centre of Calais and took some photos of the famous mechanical dragon in action.
