Elter Water

Really good day today.  We started off by heading to Elterwater to do a loop  from dad's '10 best lake district walks' book.  It really was a good one. Fab views of the fells (Scafell Pike pictured), lovely rolling fields, waterfalls and tarns, even got to see tiny cars in the distance head up Wrynose pass.  (I always thought it was Rhino's pass when I was a kid).  We also met a chicken hearding a family of Russian ducks and got chatting to the guy running the National Trust Car park who may have known us but we weren't awake enough to figure out if we knew him.

Back in Ambleside it was lunch and a bath bun before heading back to hotel for the 'Thermal Journey' in the spa.  I was hoping it was as nice as it looked on the website, and it really was pretty lovely.  The indoor bit had an infinity pool looking out over lake Windermere and the fell were clear, the salt and herb saunsa were also really cool.  Outdoors there was another sauna and another ocuple of pool and it was really nice to just float around on your back and stare at the sky for a bit. It was really relaxing, not too busy and I think I'd go back if I can bear to spend the money again!

The evening was also lovely, we headed out to eS Bar for some Mexican Tapas.  The food was really good, but as usual with tapas we ordered too much.  Some chicken drumsticks came late after a little mix up and they  got offered to the people on the next table who were looking at them when they arrived.  This started a really lovely conversation and just one of those genuinely nice human interactions that you have with strangers.  Good day.

Edit: Forgot to mention that two tiltrotors passed overhead on the way back to the hotel.  Never seen thme before. Very strange looking things!
