Ready!

Each year at this time Tony makes up our two hanging baskets and the jardiniere.  They've remained in the allotment greenhouse longer than usual because of the weather ups and downs, but hopefully they'll be strong enough to come down to the house soon.

Tony and I did a couple of hours in the drying ground this morning.  Yesterday on the working day, several neighbours came to attack the brambles and two children enjoyed bracken bashing; nature trail following and digging.  It was another sociable afternoon with much progress made. Towards the end of the afternoon, young A was intrigued by the huge rock Tony was trying to excavate from a potential seed bed.  A had to go home before the rock was free so Tony promised it would be clear for him to lift, with help, on Tuesday.  So Tony's job this morning was to work on the stone which will be raised upright as another henge stone.

I set about more of the brambles which have been allowed to grow unchecked for decades, so you can guess how extensive and matted their root systems are!

We returned after lunch for a couple of hours.  When I got fed up of yanking out brambles I moved rocks for a while before tiring and calling in on elderly neighbour M for a chinwag.  She was telling me how neighbours would string their washing across the road at the front of the terrace when she was a child and that only stopped with the arrival of cars.  Now I know what the hooks in our front wall were used for!

Tomorrow it's my first physio session!
