Local Coastline

A typical section of coastline between Kirkcaldy and Kinghorn.

At this time of year, the low cliffs support sea campions, birdsfoot trefoil and, as is seen here, thrift (aka sea pink), Armeria maritima.

Bloody cranesbill and meadow cranesbill are also found, but not together.  It depends on the underlying rock type which varies between sandstone and igneous dolorite.  Shale and limestone occur less frequenty.
