Castle of Haamstede
Opposite the church, in the middle of the village, is Haamstede Castle. In 1981, Natuurmonumenten bought the castle and the associated estate from the Van der Lek de Clercq heirs. The family had owned it since 1850 and currently uses it as a holiday home. The oldest part of the current castle dates from the 13th century and in the centuries that followed, parts were added on. Traces of the Romans and Normans have even been found on the castle island.
